ABOUT: Located downtown, the Norfolk Grand Theatre Renovation re-purposes the historic 100-year-old theatre into a multi-family residential second floor above first floor commercial tenant spaces. The building was originally constructed in 1920 as a theatre, becoming a projection movie theater by the 1960's. It had undergone many renovations but became vacant in the early 2000's. In 2013, the building made its mark on the National Register of Historic Places. The project features substantial demolition of the stage area, existing second floor, and adjacent structures. PRC constructed a new second floor, replaced the roof and associated supports, reconstructed the loft structure, and added 9 new apartments to the facility keeping many historic characteristics intact.
